Organic Production
This report will include acreage, production, and sales data for a variety of certified organic crop and livestock commodities as well certified organic marketing practices. All USDA certified organic producers in the United States were contacted to gather information on current organic production practices. In 2008 the USDA conducted its first organic survey as a follow-on to the 2007 Census of Agriculture. This wide-scale survey of organic agriculture included USDA certified organic producers, and also producers transitioning to certified organic, or exempt from certification (those grossing less than $5,000 annually from organic sales).
