Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, TX - 05/13/2013

Cattle and Calves:  938      Week Ago:  916     Year Ago:  814
 
   Compared to last week:  Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to weak on 
limited comparable sales with most of the decline on cattle weighing over 800 
lbs.  Trade activity and demand were moderate.  Offering included a load of 
Medium and Large 1-2 steers weighing 700-750 lbs.  Warm temperatures look as if 
they are here to stay this week with no rain in the forecast.  Slaughter cows 
and bulls were 1.00-3.00 lower.  Slaughter cows and bulls made up 13 percent, 3 
percent replacements and 84 percent feeders.  Feeder supply consisted of 57 
percent steers and bulls, 43 percent heifers.  Approximately 75 percent of the 
run weighed over 600 lbs.

   Steers:  Medium and Large 1 few 327 lbs 191.00; lot 398 lbs 171.00; few 408 
lbs 163.00; few 615 lb calves 143.50; few 681 lbs 135.00, 650-700 lb calves 
129.00-134.50; 700-800 lbs 130.75-134.50.
   Medium and Large 1-2 load 737 lbs 134.50; lot 752 lbs 129.00; lot 872 lbs 
119.00; few 943 lbs 115.75.
                
   Feeder Bulls:  Medium and Large 1  400-500 lbs 150.00-155.00; few 675 lbs 
127.50; 700-775 lbs 115.00-118.00; few 880 lbs 107.00. 

   Heifers: Medium and Large 1  350-400 lbs 157.00-158.00; 400-450 lbs 152.50-
153.00, lot 462 lbs thin fleshed 164.50; 500-550 lbs 143.00-146.00; 600-700 lbs 
126.00-132.00, few 605 lbs full 127.00; lot 747 lbs 125.00; 800-875 lbs 114.10-
115.00.
   Medium and Large 1-2 few 461 lbs 146.00; 700-725 lbs 120.50-121.00.
