Collins, CO Sheep and Goat Report for Wednesday May 15, 2013 Total Receipts: 1614 Last Week: 2213 Year Ago: 1200 Sheep Receipts: 1064 Last Week: 1766 Year Ago: 805 Goat Receipts: 550 Last Week: 447 Year Ago: 395 Compared to last week: No comparable sales on slaughter lambs under 70 lbs. Slaughter lambs over 70 lbs traded 10.00 higher on comparable sales. No trend available on feeder lambs due to limited comparable sales however a higher undertone was noted. Slaughter ewes and slaughter bucks traded mostly steady. Slaughter kids traded mostly 6.00 to 8.00 higher. Slaughter nannies traded mostly steady to firm. Slaughter billies and wethers traded slightly lower on a thin test. Trading activity and buyer demand were good. In the sheep supply, 42 percent were slaughter lambs, 11 percent feeder lambs and 47 percent slaughter ewes and bucks. The goat supply consisted of 66 percent slaughter kids, 26 percent slaughter nannies, 4 percent billies and wethers with the remaining balance being replacement nannies and families. Sheep and lambs sold on a per cwt. basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted.
