Feeder Cattle Auction for 5/23/13

Receipts:  715    Last Week:  960

   Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves 1.00 to 3.00 lower.  Not a
good test of yearlings last week for a market comparison.  Slaughter cows 3.00
to 4.00 lower, slaughter bulls steady.  Demand and supply moderate.  A much
higher percentage of feeder cattle over 600 lbs than in the most recent sale.
Receipts are starting to lighten up as the rain has passed through the trade
area and producers are busy baling hay.  Near 21 percent of the offering was
replacement cows, slaughter cows and bulls.  The feeder supply included 45
percent steers, 53 percent heifers, 02 percent bulls, with 50 percent over
600 lbs.

   Feeder steers: Medium and Large 1  350-400 lbs 166.00-169.00; 535-600 lbs
139.00-146.00; 625-700 lbs calves 127.50-137.50; pkg 709 lbs 130.00, pkg 739
lbs calves 123.00.  Medium and Large 1-2 pkg 480 lbs 144.00; 530-575 lbs 134.00
