Slaughter Cattle Auction

Receipts:  964    Last Week:  398    Last Year:  893

   Compared to last week:  Slaughter steers and heifers steady to
instances of 2.00 higher compared with last week’s limited numbers,
Holstein steers 2.00 higher.  Very good demand for Holsteins and 
All Natural steers, more moderate demand for conventional fed steers
and heifers.  Many new crop calf fed’s in the offering, many consignments
carrying a heavy gut fill condition again this week.  Packer buyers
not as aggressive as they were last week as CME Live Cattle erased
the gains posted yesterday in spite of the boxed beef cutout setting
new historically record highs each day this week.  Slaughter cows
steady with Monday’s sale, except Breakers were 3.00 to 4.00 higher,
bulls steady with last Wednesday which was the last best test.
Steers made up 87 percent of the fed cattle, heifers 13 percent.
Slaughter cows and bulls made up 28 percent of the receipts.

   Steers:  Choice 2-3 1300-1488 lbs 124.50-126.75, low dressing 
122.50-124.60.  Select and Choice 2-3 1292-1335 lbs 123.00-124.50.
Returning to the Country Select and Choice 2-3 1283-1394 lbs Qualifying
for Natural Beef 129.50-130.00, Select 2-3 1208-1335 lbs 122.00-123.50.
Holstein Steers Choice 2-3 1339-1476 lbs 114.75-116.00.  Select and Choice
2-3 1312-1378 lbs 108.00-110.50.  Select 2 1206 lbs 103.50.

   Heifers:  Choice 2-3 1154-1230 lbs 124.25-125.00, No Implants 127.25,
Low Dressing 122.50.  Select and Choice 1172 lbs Low Dressing 120.00.
Returning to the Country Select and Choice 1093 lbs 119.00.
