Feeder Cattle Auction Mid-Session and Close for 05/22/2013

   Compared to last week, middle-weight steer calves and yearlings weighing from 
550-750 lbs and heifers weighing from 450-650 lbs sold 3.00-5.00 higher.  Other 
weights and classes were fully steady on similar comparisons.  The market 
appeared steady to weaker on the open, but became more active after a few 
reputation consignments of light yearlings made their way through the ring by 
mid-morning.  Supply included 46 percent steers, 46 percent heifers, and 8 
percent feeder bulls.  Around 51 percent weighed over 600 lbs.

   Feeder Steers:  Medium and Large 1  400-450 lbs 173.50-181.25; 450-500 lbs 
167.00-173.00; 500-550 lbs 158.00-173.00; 550-600 lbs 155.00-167.00, pkg 
unweaned 144.00; 600-700 lbs 145.25-162.00, unweaned 140.50-141.00; 700-775 lbs 
135.60-147.50; pkg 815 lbs 134.25; pkg fleshy 865 lbs 119.25.  Medium and Large

quality fleshy black cows w/newborn to 200 lb calves 1600.00-1785.00.  Medium 
and Large 1-2  4-6 year old 1050-1200 lb average quality thin black cows w/100-
200 lb calves 1350.00-1525.00; similar 7 years to short and solid mouthed 1200-
1300 lb pairs 1250.00-1260.00 per pair.
